Time Lapsed

The Time Lapsed project is a series of black-and-white photographs in which I explore the theme of movement and the passage of time, capturing the fleeting moments that shape our perception of reality. Each image emphasizes high contrast and incorporates elements of blur or motion, reflecting not just the physical movement of the subject, but also the emotional and mental movements that accompany our experiences. Through the use of contrast, out of focus subjects or intentional motion blur, I aim to record not only what is seen, but also the feelings and memories that are invoked by that moment.

The high contrast in these images serves as a visual tool to heighten the drama of the scene, exaggerating the differences between light and dark. This stark juxtaposition amplifies the sense of urgency and movement, making the passage of time almost palpable. It creates an intense visual impact, drawing the viewer's eye to the extremes in the image and forcing them to confront both the clarity of the still moments and the obscurity of those moments that slip away.

In addition to the visual elements of high contrast and blur, the series also emphasizes the subjectivity of our experience. These images reflect the emotional truth of a moment rather than its literal representation. The movement becomes a metaphor for how we experience time—not as a linear, measurable entity but as a fluid, shifting force that we perceive through emotions, impressions, and memories. The blurred motion serves as a metaphor for how we often recall moments, not in perfect clarity, but as fragments of feeling, sensation, and memory.
